Two domestic geese placed against an empty grey ground which has been gradated through the use of tonal grading (bokashi), as a symbol of fidelity and marital bliss, geese often depicted in pairs, as in this print. This print is known with at least three slightly different signatures. Circa 1905 AUTHENTICATION: Dated May 16, 1982.“This Japanese print was given to Maude and Cudworth Beye as a wedding present by Frank Lloyd Wright in approximately 1914 or 1915. Frank Lloyd Wright was the next door neighbor of Maude and Cudworth Beye. Signed Barbara Beye, Maude and Cudworth Beye are the father and mother of Alfred D. Beye, my husband.” Letter of Authentication accompanies print.
